A couple from West Virginia is charged with murder in connection with the death of their infant, five months after it occurred.
On November 16, 2024, James Smith, 34, and Angel Talbert, 23, discovered their child unconscious in her bed and called 911.
While they waited for emergency personnel, the couple tried CPR. Unfortunately, the baby was declared dead a short while later by Braxton County Memorial Hospital officials.
Later, investigators found that the parents had clearly assisted their teething youngster using antiquated and risky techniques. Authorities said their choices eventually contributed to her death.
The Braxton County Sheriff’s Office was asked by the West Virginia Medical Examiner’s Office to assist in the investigation into the child’s death, per a criminal complaint that WBOY was able.
