The DEC alleged that Peanut attacked an investigator on the hand while being confiscated from his residence in Elmira, as reported by WETM.
In addition, the squirrel struck a person who was involved in the investigation, according to a statement. Both animals were euthanized in order to conduct a rabies test.
“The animals are being tested for rabies and anyone who has been in contact with these animals is strongly encouraged to consult their physician.”
