Penn Badgley has been telling us for years that Joe Goldberg’s “You’s” ending was literally the only possible one.

On camera, Joe pulls a gun on Bronte to prevent him from fleeing as the police arrive, and she (inexplicably) survives the shooting, strangling, and drowning.

Joe begs Bronte to murder him at this point, obviously preferring death to going to court, but she declines to offer him the simple solution.

But as he is being jailed, she unintentionally shoots him in the penis after telling him, “You are going to live the rest of your life alone.”

This is precisely what takes place. In his final voiceover, Joe, who has been sentenced to life in jail without the possibility of release, continues to deny responsibility for his acts, stating:

Kamala Harris shared wisdom 31 times that will give you hope that you can truly conquer the world.

As Cassie explained what was depicted in the “freak off” pictures, the courtroom became silent.
