Police urge people to protect doors and windows after 43 monkeys escape from a research facility in South Carolina.

 

In their Thursday update, police said, “We want to assure the community that there is no health risk associated with these animals.”

On its website, Alpha Genesis states that it offers “nonhuman primate products and bio-research services”

All over the world in addition to breeding monkeys. Research into progressive brain illnesses is apparently part of the company’s clinical studies.

According to Alpha Genesis, cynomolgous, rhesus, and capuchin monkeys are handled by its team of veterinary technicians and animal experts.

Last year, the Post and Courier newspaper said that Alpha Genesis had secured a government contract to manage a colony of 3,500 rhesus monkeys on Morgan Island,

Sometimes referred to as “Monkey Island,” in South Carolina. The New England Primate Conservancy claims that in the 1970s, rhesus macaques were brought.
