Numerous witnesses to the collision recounted a horrifying series of incidents. Dani Horbiak, who was in her apartment when the disaster occurred, told ABC News.
“I heard five or six loud noises in the sky that sounded almost like gunshots and saw pieces fall off, then watched it fall into the river.”
Another person reported hearing a sound “like a sonic boom,” just before witnessing the chopper disintegrate and its rotor separate as it descended.
Another witness claimed to have seen one of the propellers fragment moments before the plane hit the sea.
