Romanian Gymnast Responds to Jordan Chiles’s Over Stripped Medal Controversy, Olympians Offer Their Support

A new statement from USA Gymnastics asserts that they have video evidence that Chiles’ appeal was submitted in a timely manner. They are requesting that her bronze medal be reinstated.

The Court of Arbitration for Sports is now responsible for reviewing the evidence. Additional evidence has been submitted to the Court of Arbitration for Sport by USA Gymnastics.

In the wake of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) ruling that her bronze medal would be taken away and awarded to Romanian athlete Ana Bărbosu, Jordan Chiles is receiving the backing of other Olympians.

The decision was received from Paris early Sunday morning, several days following the floor competition.

At that time, Chiles achieved a score of 13.666, which would have placed her in fifth position, following Romanian gymnasts Sabrina Maneca-Voinea and Bărbosu.

However, Chiles’ instructors filed an appeal and were granted a review due to the routine’s high level of difficulty. Subsequently, her score was increased by one-tenth of a point, resulting in her promotion to third place.
