Rubby took a position in front of the microphone throughout the concert, where his daughter would have been had he not made that choice. As soon as Zulinka completed her portion, the roof fell.
“I wouldn’t be here right now if I had been at my dad’s microphone. He was heading to the second portion when I sung mine. Then everything fell apart, and it became dark,” the young woman recalled, sobbing.
Desperation Following the Collapse
Together with a portion of the band, Zulinka and her husband, who provided backup vocals for the merengue performer, survived. But Rubby was not so fortunate.Her husband’s response in the midst of the collapse was swift.
