There aren’t many options left after Spanish officials rejected a relocation agreement with Loro Parque in Tenerife, despite the government’s claim that the animals would find the journey too taxing.
“We express our disappointment with the lack of preparation and the total mishandling of this situation by the park’s owner, Parque Reunidos, and the authorities who remained silent for the past month,” Marketa added.
Since they were both born in captivity, rehabilitation and release into the wild are not feasible options.
“We should still give them a clean and safe environment to live out their remaining years after entertaining the public for years.”
