According to her, they were “trying to pull out as many as they could” from the wreck and managed to save eight people—including a child—from the van before it caught fire.
A bystander remembers the horrifying moment he witnessed as fire consumed the fatal Yellowstone crash.
One onlooker watched in horror as the two-vehicle collision in Yellowstone National Park, which left at least seven people dead and eight injured, burst into flames.
The 60-year-old Roger Merrill told the Associated Press that he saw the gory sight while driving home.
Merrill claimed to have witnessed the two cars being consumed by flames while onlookers on the highway side watched in terror and tried to tend to the survivors who were still alive.
“Because it leads to Yellowstone National Park’s main entrance, it is an extremely dangerous highway,” he remarked. “It’s really crowded.”
