Initially, Tabar was accused of blasphemy, inciting violence, obtaining income through inappropriate means, and encouraging adolescents to engage in corruption.
She stated that she had been acquitted of two of the four charges against her, but she declined to provide any additional information due to her continued aspiration for a pardon. In late October of the previous year,
her confession was broadcast on Iranian state television. A significant amount of sympathy was elicited by her admissions of regret.
Tabar was characterized in the report as “a victim with an abnormal personality and mental state” who pursued “vulgarity” on social media pages. Additionally,
her medical records indicated that she had a history of visits to psychiatric hospitals, which further complicated the justification for her 10-year sentence.
Her attorneys had requested that she be released on bond, citing her age at the time of the alleged offenses.
