In what was intended to be a week-long expedition, NASA astronauts Barry “Butch” Wilmore and Sunita “Suni” Williams have remained aboard the ISS since late June.
But they were left stranded in orbit when their Boeing Starliner aircraft had technical issues. The waiting period gradually dragged on for nine months and counting.
The rescue operation was prepared only yesterday, March 12, when SpaceX was scheduled to launch Crew-10 from Florida on a Falcon 9 rocket and Dragon spacecraft.
