Saudi professor Dr Maryam Aldossari of Royal Holloway, University of London, told MailOnline that many women still live in these de facto jails unable to escape until a male guardian approves of recent developments.
She gave instances of women living in appalling conditions within the facilities; others seemed motivated to take their own lives because of claimed mistreatment.
She cautioned, ‘It still exists.’ God knows when they will depart; we still know folks who are there.
They [off] cut them totally. Everywhere you look is cameras. Should you misbehave, you have to visit these little unique rooms, separating yourself.
