In Miami, Florida, a 92-year-old motorist hit a girl who was going to celebrate her eighth birthday, unfortunately killing her. The driver chose to speed instead of using the brakes.
Around 4 p.m. on September 2, Stephanie Alonso was struck by an unidentified elderly lady as she and her mother were walking
into Navarro Pharmacy on Southwest 32nd Avenue and 22nd Street, according to a report from CBS News Miami.
A police official told the publication that surveillance video showed the lady, who was operating a red Nissan SUV, slamming into the child and side-swiping her mother.
The driver ‘mixed the gas pedal with the brake,’ a witness told WSVN.’ According to officials, she was parking when she spun out onto the sidewalk and struck the mother and daughter.
