Following the collision, a man and a woman in their 20s were arrested.
After being arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury through reckless driving, failing to stop when necessary, driving without insurance, and driving contrary to his license.
The guy in his 20s was now freed on police bail. The woman who was arrested on suspicion of assisting and abetting reckless driving will not face any additional consequences.
However, according to Northumbria Police, she was freed on police bail while additional inquiries into her possession of class A and B substances were conducted.
