Sir Ian McKellen’s ‘rude’ and ‘very insane’ accusations against the Queen have prompted calls for the restoration of his knighthood.

 

Royal biographer Margaret Holder mentioned the possibility of Sir Ian returning to the royal family if he feels so betrayed by the queen in an interview with The Daily Express.

One of the late Queen’s closest confidantes and official spokesperson from 1988 to 2000, Dickie Arbiter, questioned Sir Ian’s acceptance of the medal.

While accepting his prize in 2008, the actor from Lord of the Rings remembered a talk with Queen in the same interview.

In her speech, the Queen reportedly told the 85-year-old, “You’ve been doing this for an awfully long time.” T “Well, not as long as you,” he said.

He on to say, “I got a royal grin for that, but then she remarked, “Does anybody still truly go to the theatre?” The meeting was described by Sir Ian as “bloody rude.”
