Juries gave awards for creative work inspired by sport to contestants starting in the 1912 Olympics in Stockholm and continuing until the 1948 London games, totaling 151 medals.

I’ll bet you never imagined that this beloved playground staple was a part of the Olympics.
It seems that not only was the sport well-liked, but it also caused quite a bit of controversy. At the 1908 Olympics in London, for example, Team USA accused Team GB of cheating since they were wearing “illegal” heavy boots.
Fans of tug of war, a cornerstone of the Olympic Games for around five of them between 1900 and 1920, have even launched a campaign to get the retired sport brought back to the Games.
Hot air balloon pilots would participate in races beginning at the 1900 Olympics, with points awarded for distance traveled, height achieved,
ability to land in the proper coordinates, and, most importantly, best balloon photo.Following the introduction of a restriction on motorized sports, the sport was ultimately abandoned.
