The heroic father’s actions were highlighted by Superintendent Dunstan, who said: “He’s gone into parent mode and tried to save his two young daughters that have fallen onto the tracks and in doing so it’s cost him his life.” He went on to say that the occurrence was not seen as suspicious.
According to New South Wales Premier Chris Minns, the father died as a result of an exceptional act of courage that was instinctual. He sacrificed himself so he may save his children.
The St. George community and that family from the Kogarah region were undoubtedly hit hard by the tragedy, Minns said, calling it a “very confronting and sad day.”
Even though she was unharmed, the mother who saw the terrible event is reportedly in disbelief. She was sent to the hospital for evaluation together with her living daughter.
She and her family are being supported by the police as they go through this tough period.
