As he showed up in federal court Tuesday morning for a pre-trial hearing, the guy who was detained in relation to an alleged conspiracy to kill then-candidate Donald Trump was spotted grinning and joking.
When asked how his day was going, 58-year-old Ryan Routh responded that it was “lovely.”
Routh was accused of attempting to kill Trump at his Florida golf course using an AK-47, but the hearing ended without a verdict.
Aileen Cannon, the U.S. District Judge for the Southern District of Florida, heard arguments from the prosecution and defense.
In order to determine whether the gun would have fired if Routh had pulled the trigger and whether a bullet fired from the gun would have struck Trump at a sufficient distance.
