Harris’ Los Angeles home was in the eastern portion of the evacuation zone for the Pacific Palisades fire, according to a Tuesday night report from NBC News and its local affiliate.
Harris is now in Washington, D.C., where she attended an hour-long event earlier Tuesday to pay tribute to former President Jimmy Carter among other dignitaries.
Harris said in a statement on Tuesday that she was informed about the fires and advised local authorities and individuals in impacted regions to be alert.
Harris remarked, “My thoughts and prayers are with everyone affected by the terrible wildfires in Southern California.”
