To the dismay of many Bubba Gump fans, the trailer for a potential Forrest Gump sequel is mostly fan-edited and AI-generated.
However, Timothée Chalamet’s portrayal of Forrest Gump Jr. in the trailer, which begins with him surveying his mother’s grave, does make it seem very cool.
Seemingly continuing the plot of the original, in which Jenny, played by Forrest Gump Sr., passes away from a fatal illness and leaves their kid for him to raise.
The video, which includes some AI-generated banter between the two and some emotional introspection from Chalamet’s character about how intelligent his father really is, depicts Junior, like his father in the original, striving to find his place in the world.
Fans are obviously excited about the possibility of a sequel, as seen by the nearly 1.6 million views this one-minute teaser has received since it was uploaded on YouTube in July.
