It was now possible for the officers to construct a case and motive for John’s death. They posited that Leigh had murdered her spouse in his slumber and subsequently concealed his remains in her apartment until her death.
In terms of the motivation, authorities were of the opinion that Leigh had developed resentment toward John due to his misgivings regarding the abandonment of their children.
In terms of their children’s reactions, daughter Jane Sabine would subsequently state, “I have no doubt my mother was capable of murder.”
