After his wife passed away, Hackman, who at the time had severe Alzheimer’s disease, is said to have explored the couple’s house by himself.
The 95-year-old actor is said to have passed away from serious heart disease over a week later, on February 18, with renal and Alzheimer’s diseases playing a role.
Zinna, an Australian Kelpie mix dog owned by the couple, was also discovered dead in a box inside their house.
It is believed that Zinna died from malnutrition and dehydration. On their property, Hackman and Arakawa’s two additional dogs were discovered alive.
