The father of a teenager who is suspected of murdering a 17-year-old during a track meet discusses the startling event.

Andrew Anthony, Anthony’s father, has now defended his son, calling him a “good kid” who was provoked, in his own words. “Everyone has already made their assumptions about my son,

But he’s not what they’re making him out to be,” Andrew said in an interview with The New York Post. He is a decent young man. He has two jobs. He has a 3.7 GPA and is an A student.

In the confrontation that resulted in Metcalf’s death, Andrew continued, stating that Anthony “was not the aggressor” and that “he was not the one who started it.”

The father said, “Words cannot express how both [families] have been impacted by this tragedy, and I feel bad for the other parents and family.”

Hunter Metcalf said that he “didn’t see the stab” but called the incident “senseless” in a different interview with WFAA.

“I don’t know why a person would do that to someone, just over that little argument,” stated the man. According to Hunter, his brother requested Anthony.
