In the background, during the 999 call, Mr. Mohammed allegedly told his family to “pray to God,” “don’t tell, don’t disclose,” and not to “make a big deal” of what had happened. This evidence was presented before the inquest.
Falaq was hospitalized and died on March 18, 2022, after a brain bleed; the Greater Manchester Police Department subsequently began an inquiry.
At the inquest, it was heard that Mr. Mohammed had been detained on suspicion of assault, but that he had given a prepared statement and refused to talk during police interrogation.
Yesterday at the inquest, he chose not to address any inquiries from coroner Joanne Kearsley over the text exchanges.
Falaq may have been the victim of an attack, according to Detective Chief Inspector Stuart Round, who headed the inquiry.
