The defendant reportedly drew a black knife and stabbed Metcalf once in the chest as he tried to physically move Anthony.
Anthony allegedly told responding cops, “I was protecting myself,” according to an affidavit. “He put his hands on me.”
Additionally, Anthony allegedly informed police, “I’m not alleged, I did it,” and asked whether the event qualified as self-defense.
At a neighboring hospital, Metcalf was declared dead from his wounds despite prompt medical attention, including CPR and a blood transfusion.
Austin was held in his last moments by his twin brother, Hunter Metcalf, who was there when he was stabbed. Hunter said, “He didn’t deserve it,” according to NBC Dallas-Fort Worth.
“I didn’t realize it would happen to me so quickly, but I know folks who lose family members often. My brother, my dearest friend, and my whole existence.”
