Shed “died a hero doing what he does best, and that’s protecting and that’s loving and that’s looking out for everyone,” churchgoer Alexis Weathersby told WLOX on April 12.
The deacon “was that guy you could always have a laugh with and always count on to be” at the church, according to Taylor Sanders, another member.
“He was just that guy when the doors opened and when they closed, and we’re just upset right now,” Sanders added.
At first, WLOX said that three suspects had been taken into custody. The Sun Herald reports that ECMC is taking donations to help cover burial and medical costs.
The day after the massacre, on April 13, the church streamed a live service on Facebook.
Anyone with information regarding the shooting is encouraged to contact the Gulfport Police Department.
