Sal Flores and his family thought everything would be all right when they returned to their Altadena home after voluntarily leaving late Tuesday night.

However, on Wednesday morning, a friend passed by the property and saw the destruction: The family home, which they had owned since 1985, was totally destroyed by fire.

“Devastating,” said Flores. The Pasadena Civic Centre is being utilised as an evacuation centre for the Eaton Fire, and hundreds of people,

including Flores and his family, have arrived. Toni Gustafson, a resident of Pasadena, was in Altadena with a friend when they made.

the decision to go at about two in the morning and go to the centre “because the fire was so close.” Later, she found out, her neighbourhood was evacuated.

A neighbour informed Gustafson that there were fallen power lines that prevented them from returning to check on properties,
