The Olympic committee has responded to a boxer’s decision to withdraw from the bout with just 46 seconds remaining after his opponent failed a gender eligibility test.

Following Thursday’s highly publicized Olympic victory by Imane Khelif, the Olympic committee has now responded.

After just 46 seconds of their welterweight bout, Angela Carini decided to pull out. Twice before Carini finally gave up, her headpiece seemed to come loose.

A statement on the incidents has been issued by the Olympic committee, which states: “Everyone has the right to exercise sport without prejudice.

All competitors in the 2024 Olympic boxing event are required to follow the rules and regulations set forth by the Paris 2024 Boxing Unit (PBU),

including those pertaining to eligibility, entrance, and any relevant medical matters. You can see all of these rules and regulations here.

The age and gender of the competitors are determined by their passport, much as in past Olympic boxing tournaments.
