“They said that their ovens had gone down, all kinds of stuff, but folks went and got them anyway,” Goldberg added, “which is why I’m not telling you who made them.”
Whoopi Goldberg didn’t have the kind of birthday she had hoped for. The TV star said that the bakery that baked her birthday sweets first turned down her request while she was celebrating her 69th birthday on The View on Wednesday.
Following an hour of festivities, during which Goldberg presented her favorite items to the audience, the co-hosts of The View indulged in one of Goldberg’s favorite desserts: Charlotte Russe.
Before admitting that she had trouble ordering the dessert, Goldberg said that her mother loved the trifle-like dish, which consists of layers of fruit, Bavarian cream, and sponge cake, as a child.
The actress said, “Now, I should tell you, Charlotte Russe has no political leanings, and the place that made these refused to make them for me,” as the audience let out a shout.
