Pelley believed that his former employer was a key component of the program’s success and kept praising him.
He then directed his remarks toward Paramount, the show’s parent corporation, accusing them of impeding their efforts to produce the program.
The presenter of the program went on to say that Owens thought they were losing their “independence,” which is why he took the painful choice to step down.
“Stories that we pursued for 57 years are often controversial, especially the Donald Trump administration and the Israel-Gaza war,” Pelley said.
