Biden announced his endorsement of Kamala Harris as the Democratic candidate to challenge Donald Trump in the 2024 elections in a follow-up tweet made on X (previously Twitter).
Choosing Kamala Harris to serve as my vice president was my first order of business when I became the party’s candidate in 2020.
“It was the wisest choice I’ve ever made,” he wrote. I am writing to express my strong support of Kamala for our party’s nomination this year.
Join together, Democrats; defeat Trump is within reach. Great, let’s get this done. The president’s term will conclude at noon on January 20, 2025, and he intends to fulfill the remaining days of his tenure.
My fellow Democrats, I have decided not to accept the nomination and to focus all my energies on my duties as President for the remainder of my term. My very first decision as the party nominee in 2020 was to pick Kamala Harris as my Vice President. And it’s been the best… pic.twitter.com/x8DnvuImJV

Harris responded to the president’s remark by sending her own letter in which she expressed her “honor” at having Biden’s endorsement and made it plain that she “intention is to earn and win this nomination.”
