The student’s use of popular study medications led to a heart attack at age 22.

The mother was told by the doctors that this mix of variables had caused Mandi’s heart “ridiculously weak”; on two times, the important organ stopped beating, causing Mandi to flatline.

She remarked, “It just went dark,” “To think that there’s nothing is terrifying, so I just tell myself that I didn’t die for long enough.”

Because of the damage she had caused to her heart, Mandi experienced a heart attack when she was 22 years old (Kennedy News and Media).

After being on life support for a week at the age of 22, she underwent a life-saving operation in which physicians installed a mechanical heart pump. She also later had a pacemaker and a defibrillator installed.

Now 34 and on the transplant list, Mandi is coping with her weak heart by using a wheelchair for outings. Doctors have advised her not to have another child because of the strain it would place on her body.

She is now cautioning others about the dangers of misusing drugs that have not been personally prescribed by a doctor, stating that it is “not worth it.”
