“the Riviera of the Middle East.” Netanyahu commended the president’s strategy but did not specifically pledge to follow through on the plan.
“I think it’s something that could change history and it’s worthwhile really pursuing this avenue,” Netanyahu said.
“[Trump] sees a different future for that piece of land that has been the focus of so much terrorism, so many attacks against us, so many trials and so many tribulations,” the Israeli leader said.
“He has a different idea, and I think it’s worth paying attention to this,” he said. Despite the ambitious plan, Trump did not specify when the US will occupy Gaza or relocate its citizens.
But he maintained that his strategy was well-considered and had the support of local authorities. “I’ve studied this very closely over a lot of months, and I’ve seen it from every different angle,”
Trump said. “I talked with several Middle Eastern leaders, and they think the notion is fantastic. They claim that it really provides stability, which is what we need.
