WBRC, CULLMAN COUNTY, AL Three men lost their lives in a watercraft accident on Smith Lake on Wednesday morning, according to Cullman County authorities.
At the time of the collision, a fishing competition was taking place close to Smith Lake’s Miller Flats. Joey M. Broom of Altoona was killed after a Nitro Bass Boat struck.
The Center Console watercraft he was in, according to troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency. Broom, 58, served on the Town of Snead council.
Tim Kent, the mayor of Snead, responded to WBRC’s message by saying, “He always had a smile on his face.”
Nobody ever said anything negative about him. He prioritized the Town of Snead and its residents. They are startled and really upset. We will miss him.
Two more remains were found in the lake on Wednesday afternoon, according to the Cullman County Coroner’s Office.
