At about the same time, TPD’s press statement stated that investigators began investigating a “remote, brush-covered area of Thomas County, Georgia, known locally as a plantation.”
There were no results even after several searches.
However, authorities reported that on April 5, after a scheduled burn cleared the area of heavy bush, detectives went back to the plantation for another search. That’s when the remains of Paige were found.
According to the police statement, the remains of the middle school student were identified following processing by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.
During the news conference on Friday, Police Chief Lawrence Revell stated that Paige’s case has had a significant influence on the community for almost two years.
Chief Revell declared, “Lori deserved a safe home and a full life.” “We are one step closer to justice even though today’s arrest will never bring her back.”
