Tragedy in NYC: Mexican Navy Ship Slams into Brooklyn Bridge — 2 Dead, 19 Injured

“It was immediately clear this was a serious maritime incident,” said Chief of Training Michael Meyers.

Rescue teams boarded the Cuauhtémoc to treat the injured, then established a triage site at Pier 16.

Fire department divers were deployed to search the river, but the Mexican Navy confirmed no one had fallen overboard.

Out of 19 injured, two were in critical condition, and two crew members sadly died from their injuries. Their identities have not yet been released.

Mexico’s President Claudia Sheinbaum mourned the loss:

“I am deeply saddened by the loss of two crew members in this tragic accident.”
