While returning from a baseball tournament in Cooperstown, the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum’s home, an aircraft disaster cruelly killed a family of five from Georgia.
On Monday, the New York State Police said that the Piper Malibu Mirage, a single-engine aircraft, departed from Oneonta Municipal Airport in
the state’s central region on Sunday and went down near Masonville, some 90 miles southeast of Syracuse.

Laura VanEpps, 43; Ryan VanEpps, 42; James R. VanEpps, 12; and Harrison VanEpps, 10 were among the casualties. The plane’s pilot was named as Roger Beggs, 76.
