“She signed up. She was aware of it for a very long time. Regretfully, that did come to pass, but that’s Abbey,” Bill informed the newspaper.
“If you had her as a friend she always had your back, and for her to be helping people in need – that fits who she is.”
Following a cardiac attack, Loumonth Jack, Jr., then 21 years old, was diagnosed with cardiomyopathy and given a dismal prognosis: 10 days to live. But shortly after, he got Abbey’s heart, which ultimately prevented him from dying.
Bill made the decision to cycle a staggering 2,600 miles in order to raise awareness of organ donation when his daughter passed away.
His voyage began at his Madison home, and it would come to an end when he arrived at Broward Health Medical Center, the institution that handled Abbey’s organ recovery.
Additionally, according to the BBC, Bill met Jack in Baton Rouge, Louisiana on Father’s Day after the clinic invited the people who had received four of her organs to meet with him.
