Transgender Man, 29, Suffers Brutal Attack in Switzerland, Asserts Hate Crime Hypothesis

A trans guy, aged 29, was allegedly attacked at a pub in Switzerland by a man or men, according to the authorities. While he recovers from his many injuries,

the injured party is now collecting evidence and getting ready to bring charges. A disturbing upsurge in such bias-motivated crimes in the nation is mirrored in the current case.

Pictures and details of a physical attack that may cause distress — Social media personality Morgan Zuli Bahon is now nursing a number of injuries, including a broken nose,

concussion, retinal damage, a sprained ankle, and many hematomas. He often utilizes his platform to raise attention to transgender problems via comedy.

The traumatizing assault re-triggered the Swiss man’s underlying multiple sclerosis disease, which he has been dealing with for some time. He was born and raised in Geneva.

The alleged hate crime took place in the early afternoon on Sunday, July 14th. Morgan went out partying the night before and ended up losing his bag,

which held a number of valuable items like an iPhone charger, AirPods, electronic cigarettes, a cap, home keys, and around 200 Swiss francs (about $225) in cash.

“Thank goodness I was carrying my phone and wallet,” Morgan said in Bored Panda. Morgan, who had not yet gone back home,

set out on a perilous mission to recover his rucksack, leading him to the lively Cornavin area in the heart of Geneva, Switzerland.

A lady whom the LGBTQ+ advocate characterized as obviously unstable was encountered in Cornavin, an area famous for its major train station, several ethnic eateries, and drug trafficking and prostitution.

The suspect lady directed Morgan to the Golden VIP, a watering hole in the seedy neighborhood not far from the city’s notoriously prostitution-filled Rue de Berne.

There, the suspicious lady said, may be the whereabouts of the misplaced bag. Morgan, after a hard night of work and in a desperate need to reclaim his valuable possessions, took the stranger up on his offer and headed to the pub.

According to reports, the influencer—who has over 63,000 Instagram followers and almost 127,000 TikTok followers—asked the lone barmaid there if she had seen his bag. She reportedly refused.

Morgan continued by saying that he ordered a drink while flashing an identification card with a “F” on it, despite being exhausted and let down.

The French word for female, “féminin,” is what the “F” stands for. The necessary changes to Morgan’s formal documents to reflect his gender transition have not been made yet.

The bartender insisted that Morgan leave the premises without further delay after reportedly acting aggressively toward him.

Wondering whether she had recognized him from social media, the shocked TikToker questioned if her rude attitude was connected to his trans status.

The barmaid reportedly forcibly shoved Morgan aside as their argument heated up; Morgan “lightly tapped back,” as he put it. Suddenly, a gang of guys rushed up to him and began to force him out into the street.

The survivor supposedly endured brutality when the sun was directly above. “I guarantee you, multiple individuals assaulted me,” Morgan reflected.

Morgan has been under the impression that just one individual touched him ever since that incident, according to the CEO of the Golden VIP.

the surgeon who will operate on my nose said that my scans clearly indicated that I had been kicked in the face, therefore I know for a certainty that I was beaten up while on the floor.

Bored Panda investigated security video from the Golden VIP that captured Morgan’s entrance to the bar and revealed that he was violently escorted outside by at least three guys.

Now that he can recall telling bystanders his identify many times, Morgan is claiming the perpetrators committed a hate crime motivated by transphobia.

“At the time when I was able to speak out during the assault, I confronted the perpetrators, asking, ‘Aren’t you embarrassed to be four men on one trans guy?'” For some reason, Morgan remembered.

Morgan will hold off on filing accusations and pursuing legal action until next week, when she will hopefully have fully recovered.

The entire week, he spent in the hospital, he said. My multiple sclerosis (MS) required me to put off a nose job until I felt better, so I put it off.

In the summer of 2021, Morgan began hormone replacement treatment and began recording his gender transition on social media. In November 2023,

he was formally diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. While he did say that he had been dealing with MS for over a decade, he told Bored Panda just that.

Myelin provides a protective covering for nerve fibers, but in multiple sclerosis, the immune system assaults it, disrupting the transmission of signals between the brain and the rest of the body.

Meanwhile, on Saturday, July 20, Morgan will be a part of the LGBTQ+ Pride March of Martigny, Valais, Switzerland, as an ambassador.

According to SwissInfo’s report from May 2023, the number of documented incidents of anti-LGBTQ+ discrimination in Switzerland hit a record high in 2022, with about three occurrences per week.

On International Day Against Homo, Bi, and Transphobia two years ago, many organizations reported that transgender persons,

the majority of whom did not identify with a certain binary, accounted for about a third of the calls received by a helpline that year.

The media and political climate became more hostile against LGBTQ+ groups in 2022, particularly non-binary persons, which contributed to the surge.

Transgender persons have been the target of an alarming upsurge in reported assaults, according to a study compiled by the LGBTQ+ groups Pink Cross,

Lesbian Organization Switzerland, and Transgender Network Switzerland. Very few hate crimes are recorded in Switzerland, according to LGBTQ+ groups.

This is despite the fact that Switzerland is home to key international human rights organizations like the Red Cross and the United Nations.

On top of that, the police only received reports of around 20% of all hate crimes. It was common practice for police enforcement to disregard anybody who reported them.

According to the survey, most hate crimes in Switzerland in 2021 targeting the LGBTQ+ community occurred in public places, similar to the alleged racist attack on Morgan.

“The numbers have been clear for years: anti-LGBTQ sentiment is constant and widespread,” the campaigners said.

“The direct victims and the entire queer community suffer greatly as a result of the daily occurrence of anti-LGBTQ hate crimes.”

The acronym “LGBTQIA2S+” signifies the following identities: Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Intersex, Asexual or Ally, Two-Spirit, and Plus.
