President Donald Trump recently unveiled plans for an ambitious military space defense program dubbed the “Golden Dome”, aiming to counter Russia and China’s growing weapons presence in orbit.
The proposed price tag? A staggering $175 billion.
Trump told reporters on May 20 that the system would be fully operational by the end of his term in 2029.
To kickstart the project, he requested $25 billion in funding as part of a new tax bill currently progressing through Congress.
