As Carter’s remains were being moved from Georgia to Washington in preparation for his state burial, the remarks were made.
“That was a big mistake,” Trump remarked of Carter’s Panama decision. If Hamas doesn’t free the captives before the inauguration, “all hell will break out.”
Steven Witkoff, whom Trump appointed as his special envoy to the Middle East, accompanied him at Mar-a-Lago.
The two were questioned about the current attempts to reach an agreement to free the Israeli captives and other hostages that Hamas is still holding.
“There will be chaos. If those captives don’t return… “All hell will break out in the Middle East if they’re not back by the time I take office,” Trump said.
“And it will not be good for Hamas,” Trump remarked when asked to clarify. And to be honest, nobody will benefit from it.”
