Following a contentious Alabama Supreme Court decision on February 16, 2024, that ruled frozen embryos have the same rights as children, in-vitro fertilization became a national issue.
The ruling caused a national uproar and prompted Alabama IVF clinics to shut down their operations for fear of legal action.
In April, Infirmary Health, the company that operates Mobile Infirmary in Mobile, Alabama, declared that it would stop offering IVF procedures starting in 2025.
