Trump’s announcement of his “no. 1 choice” for the future pope has caused a great deal of unease.

One person joked, “Let me guess, ‘I’d be a better pope than any past pope,'” while another said, “A convicted pope,” on Twitter.

A other person chuckled: “If he becomes pope, then perhaps there will be historic changes in the religious system.”

“Why yes,” a fourth person added. Trump obviously understands Catholicism. Inquiry? Will Trump accuse the pope of cheating if he fails to get a two-thirds majority of the College of Cardinals’ votes?

Unfortunately for Trump and, I’m sure, some MAGA followers, he would not be qualified even if he wanted to be a candidate.

You must be Catholic in order to have a chance of being elected to the Apostolic Palace, which requires baptism first.

Since Trump is a Christian, he has no chance of becoming the next pope unless he converts to Catholicism by Wednesday of next week.
