Two Marines were identified by military authorities as dead in the collision.

San Diego (KUSI/KSWB): Two Marines from Camp Pendleton in Southern California were recognized by military authorities as having died in a collision during a convoy operation in New Mexico on Tuesday.

Capt. Charles Kimbrough of the 1st Marine Division issued a press statement identifying the Marines as Lance Cpl. Albert A. Aguilera, 22, and Lance Cpl. Marcelino M. Gamino, 28.

Aguilera, a native of Riverside, California, served in the 1st Marine Division’s Combat Engineer Battalion. According to the statement, he enrolled in March 2023 and received.

A promotion to lance corporal in May 2024. Gamino, a native of Fresno, California, served in the 1st Marine Division’s Combat Engineer Battalion.

Gamino was awarded the Sea Service Deployment Ribbon and the National Defense Service Medal after enlisting in May 2022 and being promoted to lance corporal in August 2024.
