Doll Stanley, the director of the group, said she was devastated by the sentencing. The judge’s ruling disappointed the people of Morehouse Parish as well, as they had anticipated harsher punishments.
During the sentencing, Judge Sharp stated that he did not watch the Snapchat video or read anything about the men’s actions until they confessed to their crimes.
Although the court officer recognized the outcry from the animal lover community, he relied on the law to decide the appropriate sentencing for the guilty.
The judge further stated that the guys would be imprisoned for a year and a half if they did not pay their $5,000 fine.
However, after a year, an evaluation may potentially result in a reduction in their sentences.
