Two Teens Share Horrifying Details Of Their 16-Hour Inflatable Paddleboard Ocean Adventure

With just an inflatable paddleboard to keep them afloat, two teenage girls from Florida have described the horrifying experience of becoming stuck in open sea for sixteen hours.

16-year-old friends Avery Bryan and Eva Aponte had made the decision to take advantage of the low tide and have some fun paddling out to a sand bar.

However, when a powerful current made it impossible for them to return to shore, what had begun as a leisurely day on the lake swiftly turned dangerous.

Without food, drink, or appropriate equipment, the teenagers were trapped and unable to paddle home, floating aimlessly for sixteen long hours.

The girls gave an explanation of their decision to go out on the sea that day, despite the danger, in an interview with Inside Edition.

“The water appeared to be rather pleasant and smooth, and it was low tide. Because we could see it, we thought, ‘Oh, it’s a fantastic time to go to the sand bar,'” Bryan and Aponte replied to reporter Les Trent, 63.
