What Are Infections of the Eyes?

Any eye condition brought on by a pathogenic microbe, such as a virus, bacteria, or fungus, is referred to as an eye infection. Three regions of the eye are often affected by infections:

The transparent outer surface of the eye is called the cornea.

The moist layer on the outside of the eye, outside the cornea, and inside your eyelids is called the conjunctiva.

A common reason for primary care appointments is eye infections. Numerous types with different origins and symptoms have been found.
