Contributing causes were coronary artery disease, the effects of buprenorphine, and drowning. The medical examiner determined that an accident caused the death.
Following the medical examiner’s decision, the LAPD opened an investigation into Perry’s cause of death back in May.
Three months later, it was revealed that five individuals had been charged in relation to Perry’s overdose. Doctor Salvador Plascencia and colleague medical
practitioner Mark Chavez were taken into custody. In connection with the star’s death, Jasveen Sangha, dubbed the “Ketamine Queen of Los Angeles,
” suspected street vendor Erik Fleming, and longtime aide to Perry, Kenneth Iwamasa, have also been prosecuted.
