They “took advantage” of the actor’s drug problems, according to US Attorney for the Central District of California Martin Estrada, who said at a news conference that they “knew what they were doing was wrong.”
Plasencia’s purported text message exchange with a coworker, in which he allegedly called Perry a “moron,” seemed to reflect this. “I wonder how much this moron will pay,” he said to have written.
Social media users were horrified to learn of the news and expressed their shock at how callous it might be for someone to use a helpless individual battling addiction.
