Cynthia Erivo has thought back on her “passionate” reaction to a Wicked poster created by a fan that went viral last month.
First, for some background, a few weeks ago, Cynthia, who plays Elphaba in the upcoming Wicked film, made headlines when she criticized a “deeply hurtful” fan edit of the new movie poster.
The fan edit was digitally altered to more closely resemble the original Broadway advertisement for the musical.
Cynthia described the fan edit as “the wildest, most offensive thing” she has ever seen when she posted it to her Instagram story.
Notably, she pointed out that Elphaba’s eyes were now hidden by her hat, which was one of the poster’s primary modifications.
